Infomaze (Game Designing)

Description:

Ashta Chemma is a popular traditional Race Game in Andhra Pradesh, where in two to four players race their respective coins on a board of 5x5 squares to reach the inner most square. The movement of coins is controlled by throw of dice. Since each player has four coins, he can decide which coin to move. The first player to get all his coins into the innermost square wins the game.

Rules of the game:

At the start of the game, each player chooses a color and the player's four pieces are placed on the home square of their color which was marked with a cross as shown in fig( Player 1).
Players take it in turn to throw a single die, The possible values for the die are 1,2,3,4 and 8. Player must first throw a four or eight to be able to move a piece from the home square.
In each subsequent turn the player moves a piece forward 1,2,3,4 or 8 squares as shown by the die. Any throw of a 4 or 8 results in another turn.
Movement of coins is in anti-clockwise direction in outer squares and then in clockwise direction in inner squares as shown by the arrow in the diagram.
If a player cannot make a valid move they must pass the die to the next player.
If a player's piece lands on a square containing an opponent's piece, the opponent's piece is cut and returns to its home square and the player gets another turn.
The cut coin returns to its home square and has to go round all over again.
A piece may not land on a square that already contains a piece of the same player.
The crossed squares are safe places and no coins present here can be cut.
When a coin reaches the square left of its home square, it further moves up into the inner squares and now moves in clockwise direction, but this happens only when the player cuts at least one of the opponents coins otherwise it stays in the available last square left of its home square . Each coin finishes its race when it manages to get into the innermost crossed square.
The first player to get all his coins into the innermost square wins the game.
** The design should satisfy all the above rules.

** Added advantages to the design where computer is one of the player and with increasing board sizes.

Rules:

* Efficient coding, emphasis on the game design and effective UIs are the criteria for choosing the best entry.
* Must be original Work.
* Flash Files are not allowed.
* Send 2 soft copies with a letter of authentication from the head of your Institution.
* Maximum of 2 persons per team.
* Read all ten protocols carefully.
* Mail Your Project to cissoiree2010@hotmail.com.
